In a horrifying case that has shocked Switzerland, Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was allegedly murdered and dismembered by her husband in a brutal crime. The 38-year-old beauty queen, who won the Miss Northwest Switzerland pageant in 2003 and was a finalist in the 2008 Miss Switzerland competition, was also a mother of two and ran a modeling business for aspiring catwalk stars.
Her remains were discovered in February in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland. According to local reports, Joksimovic was allegedly strangled and dismembered with a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears, and her body parts were blended into a puree-like substance using a hand blender and dissolved in chemicals.
Her 41-year-old husband, referred to by the pseudonym “Thomas,” was arrested after a third party discovered her remains. Thomas claimed he acted in “self-defense,” stating he dismembered her body in panic after she allegedly attacked him with a knife, a claim contradicted by forensic evidence.
‘A Perfect Family’
The couple’s seemingly idyllic life came to light after a haunting final Instagram post from Joksimovic surfaced, shared just months before her death. The post, from August last year, depicted the family together on the beach with their two children on their shoulders. Joksimovic had captioned it, “My world.”
Friends and family were left in shock. DailyMail reported that one friend expressed disbelief saying, “To me, they seemed like the perfect family.”
In a court ruling this Wednesday, it was confirmed that Joksimovic had been strangled to death, and investigators pointed to “concrete indications of mental illness” behind the horrific crime. The tragic loss of the former beauty queen has left many mourning a woman who was cherished by her community and family.
