While most of us are happy and excited to eat at McDonalds, a 6-year-old girl has a terrifying experience when she found a face mask in her chicken nuggets. Said surgical mask was baked into the favorite McDonald’s treat.

“I had to put my finger in her mouth to make her sick and it came up all speckled with blue,” said the girl’s mother, 32-year-old Laura Arber in an interview with BBC News.

At first, Arber wasn’t sure what the blue bits were but as she took a closer look at the nuggets, she saw mangled pieces of a face mask. These were also seen in other nuggets that are part of the McDonald’s Happy Meal box.

“It was a mask, it was absolutely baked into it, it had gone like chewing gum. It was disgusting. If I hadn’t been in the room I just don’t know what could have happened,” she added, expressing her dismay on the incident.

This incident happened in Aldershot, a town in the Rushmoor district of Hampshire, England, at around 6 p.m. on August 4. Arber took home the McDonald’s Happy Meal which ended up in dismay and frustration. Hence, she returned the nuggets to the store. However, she did not receive a good response.

McDonald’s response to face mask in chicken nuggets incident

Arber said that she couldn’t believe how the management handled the situation. They did not apologize and did not take actions to check other nuggets being served. She said that the management did not stop serving nuggets.

However, the company said that they are currently investigating the incident.

“As soon as we were made aware of the issue we opened a full investigation with the relevant supplier, and have taken action to ensure any product from this batch is removed from restaurants,” McDonalds UK said, according to BBC News.

It added saying, “We would like to offer a full apology to the customer in question and understand they are currently in conversation with our customer services team.”

Despite this, Arber is still not happy about how things turned out.  She shared her experience in an Aldershot Facebook group to warn them about what happened. She said that she was scared of what might happened if she walked out of the room and her daughter choked on the face mask, reported Hampshire Live.

“Just because it says it’s a Happy Meal doesn’t mean it’s safe,” Arber said in an interview with BBC.

Do you love McDonald’s Happy Meal too? Well, we do! It’s just sad that this mom and daughter experienced this. What can you say?
