It would be fun if we make toys for our kids once in a while. They enjoy the process in making it and they love to see the outputs too. My mother and I made some yarn toys for Bella just for fun. I shared the steps on how to make them below through pictures. We made three toys for her that night because I had three colors of yarn available. You can look into the images below for the How-to.
Yarn Doll
1. Roll the yarn on a piece of board to any desired size you want. Then take it from the board and cut the bottom part leaving the upper part folded as shown.
2. Take a yarn with a different color and tie it on the folded part to serve as hair.
3. Tie the upper portion with the folded part with another yarn like on the picture.
4. Separate some yarn for the arms and then tie the excess portion for the feet.
5. Make eyes and lips from paper or felt.
6. Braid the legs and arms. Tie it with a yarn. Then cut the folded area of the hair. We also glued shorter yarns on the upper part.
7. Glue to eyes and lips and your done!
Yarn Octopus
1. Roll the yarn on a piece of board to any desired size you want. Then take it from the board and cut the bottom part leaving the upper part folded as shown.
2. Tie the upper portion with the folded part with another yarn like on the picture.
3. Braid eight legs. Tie the uppermost portion to create a hair. Cut eyes from paper or felt and glue it on the face.
4. And your octopus is done!
Yarn Monster
1. Roll the yarn on a piece of board to any desired size you want. Then take it from the board and cut the ends while tying it on the center.
2. Cut eyes, mouth and legs from paper or felt.
3. Insert a yard at the back. Then place a whole on the legs. Insert the yarn and tie it. Do it on both legs.
4. Glue the eyes and mouth. Your funny yarn monster is done!
Bella’s Yarn Buddies
Bella enjoyed these toys especially that she tried to help making them too even if helping was actually stretching the yarn until the entire roll is scattered on the floor lol. She even kissed them when they were done. She’ll put them on the floor on a certain distance, kiss them goodnight and ask me to turn off the lights. haha!
She hanged the yarn monster on our bedroom’s door knob and then played with the legs saying “Tick, Tack, Tick, Tack” like a clock’s pendulum. Well, at least she had a good time with these yarn toys.
And she let her met some of her Lalaloopsy dolls. The yarn doll with some of her Mini Lalaloopsy dolls and the octopus and monster with Coral. Then they had a picture together to treasure the memory of their first meet-up haha.

Aww the octopus is ADORABLE! This will be a cute craft for us because I've been teaching Penny all the different sea creatures.
How neat! When I was little my step sister who was then a young teen made me a yarn doll that I just ADORED seems how she made it for me. I wonder what ever happened to mine. Wish I still had it.
