Most mothers-to-be will feel some uncertainty and nerves over welcoming a new baby into the world, even if it’s what they planned and have prepared in every way for the new arrival. However, for others, it may be that the lack of preparation, fear, or uncertainty runs a lot deeper, to the point where you might not feel ready at all or completely overwhelmed by the idea that you’re about to be a mother.

Here are some options if you don’t feel prepared for a new baby.

It’s important to discuss with your doctor regarding a healthy pregnancy and the steps you can take to care for yourself and your baby during this time. The more information you can get from your doctor and any other healthcare professions, the better prepared you will feel, and this can help you to have a healthier and happier routine during your pregnancy.

It’s important to have a support network around you when you’re going through such a huge life change, and this is where friends and family will make all the difference. Whether it’s talking through your worries, knowing that friends or family will be on hand to babysit or offer support, or whatever else you need, this can help you to feel better about what’s to happen.

This could also be friends and family who have already raised a family, but it can also be people you don’t know.
